Take a look at this article from this link……the blog post is about 5th grade students creating (yes, they did the creations!) of rubrics for evaluating their blog posts!
This article also relates to the underyling principle of Teach 21: engaging students and using technology to engage our students. Be sure to read the entire post, including the discussion about Teacher 2.0.
Very inspiring!

I found this information very inspiring. I thought the rubrics that the students came up with were excellent. I think it is a great idea to put the students at the center of their learning and allow them to help establish the criteria upon which they will be graded. Mr. Hossack’s quote about making digital writing a part of his students’ learning from the very beginning really spoke to me. I think that is so important in education today! Very encouraging and inspiring article.
Hi! I am so glad you found this article helpful! It was inspiring to me, too—I definitely want to try his idea of having the students create the rubrics….I will experiment with this concept with my 11th graders at night school.
It really is amazing what students can do when they get engaged and immerse themselves in learning!
